School Parliament Election – Results on December 4

The General Education Department has released standards and instructions pertaining to the establishment and operation of the School Parliament. It is recommended that all divisions, including Upper Primary, High School, Higher Secondary, and Vocational Higher Secondary, collaborate to establish a unified School Parliamentary Council, ensuring a singular parliamentary body for each school. The primary objective of the School Parliamentary Council’s activities should be to promote awareness of republicanism and foster unity among students. It is emphasized that school parliament elections should be conducted peacefully, free from any interference by political parties.

In the Government/Aided/Recognized Un-Aided Upper Primary, High School, Higher Secondary, and Vocational Higher Secondary sections, individual classes serve as independent units. Within each unit, a designated member, referred to as the Class Leader, is chosen. These Class Leaders then unite to constitute the School Parliament. Detailed guidelines for the selection of Class Leaders can be found by following the link provided below.

The School Parliament is required to convene for the purpose of electing key positions such as the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Arts Club Secretary, Joint Secretary, Literary Club Secretary, Joint Secretary, Sports Club Secretary, and Joint Secretary. A comprehensive breakdown of representations from each school section is provided in detail below.
